Saramar Studios is the creative union of husband-and-wife artists and educators, Sara and Marty (SaraMar) Murphy.

We met in 2002, fell in love, and were married soon after.

From the beginning, we created together under the name Saramar Studios—working in stained glass and hosting themed artist exhibitions in our home studio gallery until 2010.

In 2011, our creative path shifted with the arrival of parenthood… phew!

While our lives changed, our commitment to Saramar Studios did not. Instead, our work deepened and expanded. We became teachers, and as artists and educators, we continued to grow, allowing curiosity, making, and lived experience to guide us.

Our most recent physical project was the design and construction of a seven-circuit labyrinth in our backyard—a reflection of our ongoing interest in ritual, reflection, and the landscapes that shape human experience.

Please see our process in the gallery viewer below.

Today, Saramar Studios is on the verge of a brand new beginning. Through multiple channels, we aim to focus on helping people make things, ask better questions, and find meaning through creative practice.

It is our intent to encompass digital education, craft and art instruction, inquiry-based learning, visual art, storytelling, and experimental projects shared freely online.

Saramar Studios is the online digital foundation of Saramar Station, a future gallery, learning space, and community hub being developed in Scotland, where our work will continue to evolve in relationship with place, people, and purpose.
