Marty Murphy

Illustrator & Artist

I'm a Thinker, an Idea-Man; Story-Teller, Problem Solver.

I like to create art that tells a story.

I have been an artist most of my life. I love to draw. I love pencils and paper, paints, drafting and design, building blocks and assemblage … Whatever methods I engage in, my intention is to directly reflect and reveal environments around me. Inviting the senses to experience processes of chaos and upheaval. Mostly, I love making art that is funny, and makes me laugh.

I grew up under the influence of Suess, Sesame Street, Crumb, Irons, Moebius, Corben … there was so much art in the 60's and 70's. The cartoons and animations from the pre-war/post-war era onward … Fleischer Bros, Tex Avery, Merrie Melodies, Looney Tunes, and Hannah Barbera. I adored Wacky Packages, Cracked, and Mad Magazine.

I believe Art and Creative Expression built the societies that inhabit this planet, and we must never lose sight of that fact forsaking our humanity for petty endeavors and short term achievements, ignorant of the long term effects. Meanwhile, do cool and beautiful things. Help more people to laugh and feel good. Spread truth, compassion, joy, and love.
